Ellen has created this wallpaper as a celebration of one of her favourite woodland flowers, the Bluebell.  Bluebells are modest yet vibrant little flowers that miraculously appear after the winter and cover woodland floors in a magical carpet of blue. The design was first hand drawn and then carved out of a single lino tile, before being developed into a mirrored full width repeat for wallpaper, and hand carved again to be trialed on Ellen’s printing press.
The pattern is a nostalgic nod to the decorative floral forms of art nouveau; the simplicity of the repeat owing to the naturally elegant curves of these joyful little plants that welcome in the Spring. This wallpaper has been produced using a traditional roller printing technique dating back 100 years, a process that has changed very little in that time. We print on an extremely high quality FSC approved paper with water based chalky, tactile inks that maintain all the charm and character of the original hand blocked design.
Wallpaper is hand printed to order so lead time is 6-8 weeks.

Ellen Merchant is a decorative artist, designer and printmaker based in London. Ellen creates unique artwork with a decorative aesthetic that pays homage to the British Arts and Crafts movement. She is especially takes inspiration from a love of antique textiles and botanical forms.
