Melin Tregwynt
£69.00
The Melyn Tregwynt Mill has been in operation in Wales since 1841, and continues to employ over 40 local Welsh weavers, who use the same traditional weaving techniques as when the mill opened. The Knot Garden Cushion is one of Melin Tregwynt’s Welsh tapestry cushions, woven at the mill since the 1960s. It has an intricate and reversible midcentury pattern, taken directly from designs in the Melin Tregwynt archive.

About Melin Tregwynt
Founded in a remote wooded valley on the Pembrokeshire coast, the Melin Tregwynt Mill has been spinning the fleeces of local sheep into yarn since the 17th Century. Originally a corn mill, records show that it later became a fulling mill. Water from the local stream was used to drive hammers and beat the woollen cloth to clean and soften the fabric. They still weave their cloth in the old whitewashed mill. Traditional skills are still used, preserved and sustained, and will hopefully grow. Their unique designs draw influence from traditional Welsh weaving, which dates back to the Middle Ages, and the family run business prides itself on the natural sustainability of wool.

ABOUT LAMP LDN:
Our Mission
We are committed to providing a space where you can shop for beautiful products that have been made in a way that is sustainable for the planet and kind to the people on it.
We source our products from independent designers mostly in the UK and Europe. We always look for local (UK based) options before we look further afield. We also try to support new and emerging brands and makers. Most of our products are made in small production runs, by artisans or the designer themselves. Where larger manufacturers are involved we ensure that they adhere a fair and transparent supply chain and do not use sweatshops, trafficked, bonded, child or forced labour.
