About The Tartan Blanket Co.
The Tartan Blanket Co. creates natural products that bring warmth to people’s homes, as well as having a positive impact on the world around us. Founded by Emma and Fergus Macdonald, they bring a modern approach to the traditional Scottish tartan blanket. They have collaborated with a partner mill run by a family in India, which uses 100% recycled materials and supports a community of women who hand finish all of their recycled wool blankets, creating much needed jobs and giving each blanket a personal, unique finish.
Recycled Wool
Each recycled wool blanket saves an average of six garments from landfill. They call this turning pre-loved into re-loved. Woven with their partner mill in India and made from 70% recycled wool and 30% recycled fibres, it’s a blanket that’s as good for the planet as it is for you.
Lambswool is gathered from a lamb’s first shearing and is super soft. It is a bit of a miracle fibre that helps with temperature regulation, which is known to improve sleep. It’s also breathable, hypoallergenic, and insulating.
The Tartan Blanket Co Pledge
Through our Positive Impact Pledge, 2% of every purchase is donated to charities that protect the planet and give to those in need. They choose to donate from their annual revenue instead of just our profit for maximum impact.
In 2022 over £100,000 was donated to 16 positive impact charities, including Sewadham Ashram. This charity is an integral part of the community for their recycled wool partner mill in India. Their volunteers lovingly provide lifetime shelter and rehabilitation for those who are unable to care for themselves across a variety of hardships including illness and poverty. Purchases from 2022 supported the addition of two new rooms at Sewadham Ashram, providing more housing for those in need.
